HI-FU

What Is HIFU?

HIFU stands for High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound, and creates similar results to a face lift, but without any invasive procedures! It dramatically lifts the tightens the skin, while still maintaining a very natural look. It’s a bespoke treatment that is tweaked to your own skin type. By using the ultrasound, we are able to deliver the energy exactly where you need it.

How Does HIFU Work?

HIFU treatment uses ultrasound energy to create heat in lower levels of the skin (the dermis). This triggers your body’s own natural healing response, causing you to make new collagen - the building block of our skin. This remodelling of your collagen results in a lifting and sculpting effect. HIFU is safe and effective and can be used all over the face, neck and body too and takes between 30 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the area being treated.

What Is HIFU Used To Treat?

HIFU is the perfect treatment for you if you’re suffering from saggy jowls, drooping brows or loose skin. Your skin will appear naturally tightened, and your features will be lifted – all without the need for cosmetic surgery, needles or downtime. Perfect! Better yet, it’s a bespoke treatment that can be tweaked just for you. Ultrasound allows us to see the underlying layers of skin so we can  deliver the energy to exactly where you need it. Because it there is no damage to the upper layers of the skin there are also no visible signs of you having had the treatment and no recovery time.

Am I Suitable For HIFU?

HIFU is a great treatment for those suffering with loose skin that creates a ‘heavy’ looking face, but it may not be suitable for everyone. The treatment will work best for people aged 30 upwards, who have moderate skin laxity. HIFU is a fantastic alternative for those not wishing to go down a cosmetic route, but it is also great for maintaining results post-surgery for those who have had other procedures.

Does HIFU Hurt?

HIFU isn’t a painful procedure, but it can be mildly uncomfortable. It has been described as feeling like a light prickling sensation (imagine tiny electric pulses or very light pin pricks), and can feel slightly warm. Because there is no damage to the upper layers of the skin, there are no visible signs of you having had the treatment which means – no recovery time.

How Long Does High Intensity Focused Ultrasound Last?

Results are visible after the first treatment and can last for up to two years! Collagen regeneration improves over subsequent months, with maximal effects at a year.
